The one time I encountered an alien literacy was when I was in Spanish class and my Spanish teacher asked us to read an essay about a Mexican girl try to get a job. This reading we particular hard for me because Spanish is not my first language it’s english. When I started to read it I was really confused because I didn’t know what it was saying at all. The way I conquer the reading was going to the Spanish English dictionary and really trying to understand what the reading is about. I was able to connect with what she was saying because I understood what the meanings of the words were.

I have encountered an alien literacy same as you about being confused on reading a different language, that’s how I felt when I first started to learn English. I also used a Spanish English dictionary book which helped a lot!

I felt the same struggle with when I had to take Latin in high school! Once I finally had a grasp on the language I felt that it helped me out with vocabulary over the years! Has learning Spanish benefited you at all?
